The Plan

Our plan over the course of 2016 and early 2017 was for us to both get as much practice out on the water as we could. We had been sailing a Parker 21 which is a nice little yacht for getting time on the water.
Jenny completed both her Day Skipper theory and practical courses and Carl joined Jenny on the practical, already holding his Day skipper and Yachtmaster theory. Carl also completed his VHF course and is currently studying for his Yachtmaster Ocean. Both also obtained their ICC’s.

The plan was to look at buying a Bavaria 46 around June 2017. However we saw a beautiful Bavaria 47 for sale, which we put an offer on, and was accepted.
We moved down to Crete in the Mediterranean in November where we will spend the next two to three years exploring and at the same time building up our experience and sea hours.

The next bucket list item is to sail across the Atlantic and make our way down to the Caribbean. That’s enough to be going on with for now. Our aim eventually is to do a circumnavigation.

“Twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover” – Mark Twain
